Working between archival research and fictional narratives, Dorsa Eidizadeh, Alberto Harres, and Hanna Stijnen reflect on endeavors that perpetuate imbalances of the past through reciprocal fragile and long-lasting materials and memories. Through installation, sound, text, video, and sculpture, the works consider the limitations at which inherited narratives break. The exhibition is accompanied by activations and workshops, inviting public dialogue and exchange by guest artists Abd Tammaa and Jashua Bustos Chumasero.

Dorsa Eidizadeh
Fair is foul and foul is fair, hover through the fog and filthy air
is an audio installation consisting of 30 porcelain bells, a booklet, and a sound piece. Taking the Böttcherstraße carillon as its point of reference, the work moves through different locations in Bremen, unsettling the singular historical narrative performed by the original compositions and opening space for other voices, memories, and temporalities to emerge.

Dorsa Eidizadeh is a visual artist based in Bremen. Her work examines how historical narratives are constructed and how they shape political imaginaries. Through writing, performance, and installation, she explores how these narratives can be unsettled and reconfigured through the built environment.

Alberto Harres
Anti-epigraph #2
is a sculpture assembled from laser-engraved ceramic pieces, each one a fragment of a larger, dispersed surface. Following the artistic research methodology "Arche-Scriptures", which approaches ceramics as a medium for critically reflecting on how memory is materially inscribed, this iteration investigates the historical relationship between Bremen and Brazil within the transatlantic exploitation of land and labor — foundations on which the city still rests.

Alberto Harres, originally from Brazil, now based in Bremen, Germany. Artist and Media Designer, works in the multiple intersections between art and technology, often having language as the central gravity point. In recent years Alberto has been mostly concerned with the creation of Archives as an artistic practice, and the poetical and political dimensions that they can take.

Hanna Stijnen
Sweet but not innocent
circles around a medieval legend tied to Hanna's hometown of Kleve, where the swan knight Lohengrin is said to have arrived by boat. The story, later adapted by Richard Wagner as his 1850 opera Lohengrin, is here reworked through a video installation and sculptures that use sugar as sculpting material. Moving between the legend's local-folk register and its afterlives within the German Romantic canon, the work questions what remains of belonging and memory.

Hanna Stijnen is a Berlin-based video installation artist. Through installation, moving image, found objects and sculpture Hanna’s practice investigates the relationships between urban space, social structures, and lived human experience.

Activation by Jashua Bustos Chumasero and Dorsa Eidizadeh
Description/Bio:
Drawing on memory, Jashua Bustos Chumasero renders trees as images of remembrance, composes music across multiple languages, and reshapes public space to transform and animate it. Jashua practice joins visual art with multilingual composition, engaging directly with the urban and the unseen. This interdisciplinary approach allows him to initiate and sustain layered cultural dialogues through consensus — regarding community as an instance to be in direct exchange with, within their own surroundings.

From Inside the Promise
: A Study Jalsa by Abd Tammaa (Workshop)
Imagine you could sit inside the promise.
Let's imagine: There is a Palace for Peace somewhere, presenting itself as a monument to universal justice. Let's imagine: it is furnished with donations from colonial powers that claim to speak a universal language. And let's imagine also that at the moment these powers were donating in the name of peace, they were organizing the disappearance of other peoples' worlds.

Imagine this Palace is still standing. Imagine it is a gift to the world.
Imagination here is not escape. It would be the capacity to think the otherwise.

From Inside the Promise is a gathering for collective looking, listening, reading, and reflecting. It does not want to expose what is already visible as contradiction. Rather, we come together to think through the complexity of engaging with a space built on promises we cannot refuse, funded by violence we cannot fully escape.

Abd’s practice launches an inquiry into the politics of knowledge: how bodies, subjects, and entities are turned into evidence, disciplined, and disappeared through indoctrination and violence. He works mostly with installation, video, sound, and text, departing from zones of struggle, study rooms, or public moments that unfold into dialogue and participatory tactics in favor of mutual transformation.

Dorsa Eidizadeh
Fair is foul and foul is fair, hover through the fog and filthy air ist eine Audioinstallation aus 30 Porzellanglocken, einem Booklet und einem Soundstück.

Hanna Stijnen

From Inside the Promise: A Study Jalsa von Abd Tammaa (Workshop)
